The ALICE Program, funded by Old National Bank Foundation and the Huntington Bank Foundation, provides assistance with childcare and transportation to ease costs creating deferred housing payments that contribute to the risk of housing instability.
Alice stands for Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed.
ALICE households are households with income above the official Federal Poverty Level, but below a newly defined basic survival income level spending more than 30% of their household income on housing related expenses.
NIBC aims to bridge the gap in transportation and childcare costs related to economic opportunity for the ALICE population in Calhoun County. Services offered by NIBC include:
Automobile Repairs: Up to $500 in assistance for vehicular repairs performed by a repair shop that is state licensed and insured. Fuel/gasoline assistance is not offered in the NIBC ALICE Program.
Transportation Assistance: Up to $500 throughout a calendar year for public transportation to and from work providing up to two weeks worth of bus passes at a time.
Childcare Assistance: Up to $500 once per year for child-care arrearages. The childcare provider must be state-licensed with a signed W9. Future child-care assistance is not offered in the NIBC ALICE Program.
