35 community residents to receive $265,079 in home improvement grants
Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek provided grants to area homeowners for needed repairs and accessibility modifications to their homes.
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek (NIBC) announced that 35 area residents will receive $265,079 in home improvement grants.
“Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek is thrilled to continue to connect with low- to moderate-income residents with much needed home improvement grants. Working with area community residents is rewarding in so many ways,” said Kristyn Denison, Senior Managing Director of NIBC. “Every year we set ambitious goals to reach more low- to moderate-income residents. This year was significant, even with COVID we were able support our community with $265,079 in grants to support homeowners.”
The grants were made available through NIBC’s membership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI). Grants were available for low- to moderate-income residents to help homeowners rehabilitate or make accessibility improvements to their homes.
“We’re proud to partner with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into the low to moderate income housing in Battle Creek and Calhoun County,” Denison said. “Our goal is to promote stable, healthy homes and neighborhoods, and with this crucial partner, we believe we can make meaningful and impactful differences. These much needed grant funds help stabilize the housing market and revitalize neighborhoods.”
Grants ranged from $5,520 to $10,000 from two different FHLBI Programs, one targeting home repairs and the other for accessibility. The home repair grants can be used for roof repair, new windows and doors, HVAC repair and other needs. Such work serves to lower the cost of living for the resident.
