Emergency Housing Vouchers
Through the Battle Creek Housing Commission, Neighborhoods Inc. has the ability to provide emergency housing assistance through section 8 vouchers to individuals and families who:
- Are homeless or at risk of being homeless
- Fleeing, or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, or
- Were recently homeless or have a high risk of housing instability.
This funding is provided by the American Rescue Plan Act.
Through the Emergency Housing Vouchers program provided by the Battle Creek Housing Commission, NIBC has experienced a great interest and demand for housing resources. Unfortunately, there are more individuals who need help out of threatening housing situations than there is safe, available, and affordable housing in Battle Creek.
Are you a landlord? Do you own housing in Battle Creek or Springfield?
Due to the demand for Emergency Housing Vouchers, we are looking for landlords who are open to renting to individuals receiving section 8!
This program assists individuals who currently are living in a situation that is a threat to their general wellbeing and health. By participating in this program as a landlord, you are providing the vital next steps to individuals dealing with domestic violence and other forms of abuse. Please consider adding yourself to our list of landords who accept section 8 by contacting Lacey at NIBC.
We would like to encourage all landlords to add themselves to our list of prospective renters as providing assitance for emergency rehousing is a vital step in ensuring the safety of our community members.
